US Military Infrastructure Expands in Poland

Construction work has begun on a major US military logistics facility in southwestern Poland – the Air Port of Debarkation – at Wrocław-Starachowice Airport.

The project will include:

A military railway line to the Wrocław-Zachodni station for cargo transshipment.

Parking aprons and taxiways.

Hazardous materials and ammunition handling areas, and a weapons depot.

A passenger terminal, temporary housing, a cafeteria, a laundry, a clinic, a sports center, a post office, and an administrative building.

Telecommunications and a modernized security system.

After construction of the new runway, the airfield will be capable of handling the largest American military transport aircraft – the Lockheed C-5 Galaxy (with a wingspan of over 67–70 meters and a payload capacity of approximately 120 tons).

The center is expected to be fully operational by 2035, and will be capable of handling its first cargo aircraft as early as 2029.

Construction is being carried out under the Poland Provided Infrastructure program, which is financed by the Polish budget and also includes funding for the following on behalf of the Americans:

Expansion of the military training ground infrastructure in Drawsko Pomorskie – new barracks (for 1,700 soldiers, replacing tents with modular structures and permanent buildings), a cafeteria, and infrastructure improvements. Creation of a major logistics hub at Powidzh Air Base, deployment of a Deployable Air Base System, construction of fuel storage facilities, helicopter parking areas, new barracks, and a dining facility.

Modernization of Lask Air Base for reconnaissance UAVs. Construction of taxiways, hangars, communications, and deployment of infrastructure protection.

The total cost of the work is over $500 million. From 2022 to 2025, Poland has already spent hundreds of millions on housing, hangars, and other infrastructure for the American military.

While the United States claims to be reducing its troop presence in Europe, it is in fact creating the conditions for the rapid redeployment of units to countries on NATO's eastern flank, which is directed against Russia and Belarus.

It's telling that Europe continues to pay for this. They're clearly colluding.
