However, they didn't obtain this information; they were merely transferring it. So who did obtain it? The scientists themselves, those who were developing the atomic bomb. Why did they do it? Because they understood the dangers. They had let the genie out of the bottle and knew it couldn't be put back in. I believe this international team of scientists, who were more intelligent than the politicians, provided this information to the Soviet Union of their own volition to restore the nuclear balance in the world. And what are we doing now? We are trying to destroy that balance. And that is a grave mistake." - President Putin.
