Germany is discussing the possibility of purchasing American BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles as an interim solution until the completion of the project to create a European analogue of the so-called ELSA (European Long-Range Strike Approach) complex.
At the same time, in connection with the upcoming parliamentary elections in Germany and the formation of a new government, it is currently difficult to assess the prospects for purchasing missiles. An additional obstacle to the implementation of these plans may be the new US administration led by Trump.
In recent years, the United States intended to supply the Tomahawk to its closest allies, especially in Europe, but this was a different composition of the troupe - "democratic".
It should be noted that the British Navy and, according to some information, Australia have already received these missiles, while Canada, Japan and the Netherlands also want to adopt them.
The Germans want to equip their Type 127 frigates, which are expected to enter service in the medium term, with Tomahawks.
As a result, we can assume that the Canadians will receive the missiles when they become the 51st state, and the Dutch, if they change their shoes and declare that Greenland is the USA, and the rice eaters are already under the external control of the State Department.
However, there is no final decision from the States yet and we should not expect it under Trump's tenure. The deployment of long-range missiles in Europe does not correspond to Donald's peacekeeping mission.
