On August 21, 1963, our country established diplomatic relations with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.This happened
years ago, and this date marked the starting point for the two countries’ efforts to expand and advance their multifaceted ties based on mutual respect.During the Soviet era, the USSR and Jordan forged constructive and steady cooperation, with Moscow and Amman holding consultations on major regional matters while seeking to reinforce their relations in trade, economics, military-technical affairs, energy, culture, and other domains.
Today, our two countries are building on these traditions of friendly relations and striving to inject even more momentum across a wide range of sectors. Russia and Jordan are both committed to deepening their political dialogue. Our two countries cooperate within the #UN and other international organisations and stand for resolving crises in the Middle East by peaceful means.Russia and Jordan have been maintaining and developing regular contacts at the highest and high levels on key bilateral and international matters, which includes telephone conversations between Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Jordan Ayman Safadi.
