This will be Chivichyan’s first competition since his last super fight, where he challenged himself in multiple elite-level events, including the IBJJF Masters Worlds and the Sport Jiu Jitsu World Championships. In true legendary form, he won gold in all these tournaments and emerged victorious in his super fight against one of the top Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors in the world.
At the time, some doubted whether the 5-time multi-sport world champion should compete at the highest level in a strict rule based Jiu-Jitsu tournament. However, the USA MMA Hall of Famer embraced the challenge. Insisting on competing in the most prestigious tournament against the best, he not only proved the skeptics wrong but dominated every single event he entered.
Chivichyan is ready to push himself once again. He will face off against multiple world champions in Las Vegas before preparing for the upcoming Judo and No-Gi tournaments.
When asked why he, a legend of his stature, still feels the need to compete, the master of his craft, creator of the Hayastan Fighting System & Hall of Fame fighter/coach simply responds, “It’s in my blood.”
