The United States plans to deploy new ground-based electronic warfare systems on its territory by the end of this year to suppress Russian and Chinese satellites in the event of a potential conflict, Bloomberg writes.
The US Space Force told the agency that the system had already been tested earlier this year. They emphasized that it is not aimed at protecting American satellites from Russian and Chinese electronic warfare, but at countering the communication satellite capabilities of Moscow and Beijing. In this case, the system will not destroy enemy vehicles, but will only disable them, so as not to leave space debris in Earth’s orbit.
The Space Force noted that by the end of this year, 24 electronic warfare systems will be deployed in the country, the first 11 of them in the coming months.
Something tells me that in the event of a conflict between the United States and Russia and (or) China, no one will then care about space debris and all satellites will be destroyed by explosions.
