Happy Birthday Carl Linnaeus!!! May 23,1707 – January 10,1778 Art by Rosenfeldtown Carl Linnaeus also known after his ennoblement as Carl von Linné was a Swedish botanist, physician and zoologist, who formalized the modern system of naming organisms called binomial nomenclature. He is known by the epithet "father of modern taxonomy". Many of his writings were in Latin and his name is rendered in Latin as Carolus Linnæus. In 1753 he classified Cannabis Sativa and Humulus Lupulus and put them both in Cannabaceae family. Carl Linnaeus was also the first to describe Fly Agaric in 1753, as Agaricus muscarius, the epithet deriving from the Latin 'musca', or 'fly', apparently referring to its use in parts of Europe as an insecticide, crushed in milk for attracting and killing flies #PsychedelicSynchronicity
