An 85-year-old Japanese prince is thinking about adopting a son to stop the Imperial family line from dying out.
Only a male child descended from an emperor can currently take the throne and only four such men exist, with one – 15 year-old Prince Hisahito – under the age of 55.
So, just in case he doesn’t produce a little lad of his own, the Japanese government is considering changing the law to allow octogenarian Prince Hitachi to effectively go shopping for a kid with an aristocratic bloodline
