Ja man måste ju osökt ställa sig frågan om varför detta inte drivs av RFSL-HBQT-rörelsen här i Sverige
RT Statskontrollerad media från Ryssland · 10 tim · I now pronounce you men and wife. South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs has suggested that women should be allowed to marry more than one husband. The plans are part of a wider movement by the South African government to reform and modernize the country’s Marriage Act. This would mark the biggest overhaul of marriage laws since white-minority rule ended in 1994. The newly published green paper has caused huge debate across South African social media over the legitimacy of polyandry. The act of polygamy, a man having more than one wife, is already legal in South Africa. The prospect of allowing women to have more than one husband has angered conservatives and some religious groups. Leader of the opposition African Christian Democratic Party, Reverend Kenneth Meshoe, claimed it would “destroy society” if the same marriage rights were granted to women. Theology professor, Collis Machoko, believes that the backlash comes from traditional African groups who are ‘not ready for true equality,’ and that those who object to the changes don’t know what to do with women who they cannot control. Aaron Motsoaledi of the African National Congress explained that the green paper was not the official policy position of the government. However, he encouraged people to engage in the debate in good faith, and not allow the discussion to become a war of words. Follow our Telegram t.me/rtintl
